Durable qualities

We want to keep the impact of our products on the environment as low as possible and therefore strive to use sustainable materials. Our main raw material is cotton. The cultivation and processing of cotton has a large impact on the environment, which is why we focus on finding sustainable alternatives. The bedding in the Beddinghouse Care collection is made from materials that wick away moisture well, have antibacterial properties and are generally easier to recycle. Significantly less water is used in the production of these materials than in the production of conventional materials. Fewer chemicals such as pesticides, bleach and cheap and dangerous additives such as microplastics are also used.

Lyocell

Lyocell is made from the cellulose fibers of the beech tree, which can be grown on land unsuitable for agriculture. Since beech trees can be grown using wastewater and less harmful solvents, the cultivation process is much more environmentally friendly than, for example, cotton cultivation. The beech requires less water, pesticides and fertilizers to grow, making it a more sustainable alternative. In addition, lyocell has antibacterial properties, excellent moisture absorption and offers optimal ventilation. The fabric ensures very good temperature regulation, so that the duvet cover is cool in summer and warm in winter. The mix of lyocell and Mako satin, 100% cotton, makes the duvet cover silky soft, durable, shiny and ensures a pleasant sleeping comfort.

Bamboo

Bamboo fabric is made from the fibers of the bamboo plant, which grows naturally and quickly. Bamboo is known to improve soil fertility, reduce soil erosion and absorb CO2. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial and therefore the use of pesticides is not necessary when growing it. The duvet cover is made of 50% bamboo and 50% Mako satin, 100% cotton. The mix of bamboo and satin creates a silky soft and smooth fabric. Bamboo fabric naturally contains an antibacterial organic ingredient and absorbs up to 70% more moisture than cotton, keeping it fresher for longer. The bamboo duvet cover is suitable for all seasons: the fabric is very breathable and provides a cool feeling in summer, while its insulating properties provide cozy warmth in winter.

Organic cotton

Organic cotton is grown in almost the same way as regular cotton. The main difference is that organic cotton is not exposed to harmful and synthetic pesticides, genetic modifications or artificial fertilizers. In addition, our organic cotton is GOTS certified. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is an international seal of approval for organic textiles that sets quality standards for fiber production and processing and guarantees that production is socially acceptable and environmentally friendly. Organic cotton is breathable, moisture-absorbing, softer and thicker than conventional cotton and is also more resistant to wear and tear.

Recycled cotton

The duvet cover is made from a mix of recycled and BCI certified cotton. Recycled cotton requires fewer resources, much less water, fertilizers and pesticides for production. Using recycled cotton also helps prevent waste. The BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) sets requirements that the cotton process must meet to ensure a more sustainable end product. All in all, recycled cotton/BCI cotton is a more sustainable choice than regular cotton. Cotton is breathable, absorbent and easy to care for. Cotton is the most commonly used material for duvet covers and is suitable for all seasons.
