Bedding House supports the UNICEF Plastic Bricks program

Together we are building a sustainable future for children

The Plastic Bricks program is a sustainable initiative by UNICEF that transforms plastic waste into building bricks for schools in Côte d'Ivoire. This program offers a solution to two major problems: plastic pollution and the lack of schools and education in developing countries.

Bedding House's values align perfectly with the goals of the Plastic Bricks program. We strive for sustainability and social commitment. For years we have tried to use as little plastic as possible in our packaging, looking for new, less harmful materials and striving to use as few pesticides as possible. We want to have a positive impact on the world around us and with this program we are contributing to a better future for children in Côte d'Ivoire.

At Bedding House we believe in the power of dreams and the power of education. We want to give children the chance to develop and achieve their dreams. That's why we support UNICEF's Plastic Bricks program. We support UNICEF with an annual financial contribution to the Plastic Bricks program. This enables the construction of a new classroom made of plastic bricks every year. Together we can make a difference!

By working with UNICEF, we can create a sustainable future for children in Côte d'Ivoire. We give them the chance to learn and grow, and we contribute to a cleaner environment.

From waste to classrooms

The plastic recycling program “Plastic Waste: Building Blocks for the Future” offers hope for the future of children, young people and women in Côte d'Ivoire. We train mothers and young people in collecting, safely storing and processing plastic waste. This plastic waste is processed into building blocks for the construction of new classrooms.

Plastic waste: building blocks for the future

Ivory Coast has an enormous waste problem. Every day, over 288,000 kilos of plastic from the city of Abidjan end up in landfills in poorer communities. Only 5 percent of the plastic is sold for recycling, mainly by young people and women. Unfortunately, this brings them far too little income. At the same time, 1.6 million children and young people in the West African country do not go to school. With Plastic Bricks, UNICEF ensures that the plastic is recycled into building blocks for classrooms.

More about this project

At Bedding House we go one step further

Starting this year, we will do more than just donate money: Bedding House will actively work with a dedicated group of Business Buddies - the so-called Frontrunners - to expand the Business Buddies network. The goal is to start more projects that have a positive impact on children's lives.

On February 29, 2024, the launch of this new initiative took place. Bedding House met with UNICEF and all other frontrunners to discuss how we can involve as many entrepreneurs as possible from our network in UNICEF projects. Bedding House will brainstorm with this group regularly in the coming years and make UNICEF's good work as well known as possible. We do this through our communication channels, at trade fairs, by bringing entrepreneurs together and in personal contact with people in our network
